Looks like a pretty clean E320 Cabriolet, right?

I had a W124 300D, purchased new. That is wrong. Just ... wrong.

But much, much worse. That one’s not stock either!

Ew.
Ive never liked when mercedes did this factory either. I looked into a 450sl but was disappointed that there is no aftermarket option for a blank grill.

I liked the handling a lot - it had decent grunt and a tight chassis. That said, it lunched its turbo and trap oxidizer (MB replaced for free - admitted it was a defect in the engine design), three window motors failed, sunroof motor and cable, radio died, cruise control died, a couple sensors ... most of it fixed under warranty or the extended warranty I bought. Overall a good experience.

Why do people do this? Don’t they know 90% of stock front ends will look the best?

A bit fast and loose with ‘ruin’. It’s not like you couldn’t undo that in an hour.

Temporarily ruined, then. Honestly, cutting the roof off ruins them for me anyway, so this really is small beans.

No, we have to make it look newer so the neighbors don’t think they’re better than us!

Funny cause my pristine, paid off, slightly older model will always be nicer than their newer, lesser model, and beat to hell lease.

I hate this. Poor car.
It’s like when someone gets a dog and then dyes it and does stupid things to its fur or dresses it up - it sucks.
I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but whoever did this needs new eyes.

I should clarify: It doesn’t ruin them aesthetically, but mechanically. I fix the things, and hate convertible top repair.

Fair enough, if that’s the only objection. I thought you were either saying top-down motoring in an E-class isn’t pimpy fun, or that you care about the handling dynamics.
